Drive Fuze’s electric car subscription service is a sustainable transport solution that offers a flexible and eco-friendly alternative to traditional car leasing.
Understanding electric cars for business leasing
Electric vehicles (EVs) have seen a big rise in popularity in recent years, a trend that will only grow as the production of new petrol and diesel vehicles is phased out in the coming years. If your business has traditionally taken out leases on petrol or diesel vehicles, you may now be looking to make the switch to hybrid or electric.
There are a number of reasons that businesses may consider the switch to electric:
- Clean air zone costs
- Fuel costs
- Carbon footprint
- Incentives and grants
If you opt for a traditional car lease for your EV, you’ll typically be committed to a two- to five year contract that will tie you to a set of terms and conditions likely to cover how many miles you can do each year, what your obligations are for maintaining the car and what happens at the end of the lease. Depending on the type of lease you take out, you could have the option to upgrade the car or purchase it outright, or simply hand it back.

Financial considerations of electric car business leasing
The cost of buying an EV is still high, making purchasing one prohibitive for many businesses. A traditional lease brings considerable cost savings for most companies, avoiding large upfront capital expenditure and freeing up resources for spending on other areas of the business.
Leasing also means fixed monthly payments that are easy to budget for, and while you’ll still need to plan for running costs with a traditional lease, you’re less likely to face unexpected expenses (particularly with a new or nearly new vehicle). As with any type of car, an EV lease also removes worry about depreciation, as the lease provider remains the owner of the car.
Operational benefits of electric car business leasing
Leasing an EV brings a number of benefits to your business that go beyond straightforward cost savings. From a corporate responsibility perspective, using EVs contributes to meeting your sustainability goals and shows your customers you’re serious about reducing your emissions.
Driving a modern, eco-friendly EV will also enhance the image of your business, showing you to be professional at the same time as appealing to environmentally aware customers. New or nearly new cars are also safer and more reliable, with the latest safety features and maintenance easily available (something that can be expensive with EVs).
Leasing an EV rather than buying one gives your business the flexibility to adapt to changing needs, as it’s easier to scale your fleet up or down as required. At the same time, leasing can reduce the amount of admin your business has to deal with, as servicing and maintenance are often included as part of the lease package. This simplifies your fleet management, and your business won’t be lumbered with expensive assets that will lose their value.
Why consider car subscription as a better alternative
While leasing offers a compelling alternative to purchasing an expensive EV outright, there is an even more flexible option: an EV car subscription from Drive Fuze. Our business subscription packages are tailored to the needs of your business and give you much more freedom than a traditional car lease.
Rather than tying you into a contract that lasts years, our subscriptions let you swap, upgrade or hand back the EV any time, allowing your business to adapt to changing circumstances. Choose from a great selection of new and nearly new electric cars to find the one that best suits your business, and rely on our competitive pricing to give you great value for money without sacrificing quality or service.
As well as enjoying the cost savings that come from avoiding a big upfront payment and swapping fuel for EV charging, you’ll also reduce your outgoings by only using vehicles when you actually need them. Our excellent customer support team is here to help make sure your subscription runs smoothly at all times, and we’ll even take care of fine and Penalty Charge Notice management for you.

How can we help?
What is a car subscription?
Car subscriptions are growing more and more popular as an exciting alternative to traditional car ownership or PCP. All of the running costs are included, meaning you’ll never be caught out by unexpected payments. All you have to do is add the fuel and hit the road.
What's included in the Drive Fuze monthly subscription?
Along with your chosen vehicle, you will also benefit from:
- Service and maintenance
- Breakdown cover
- 1,000 miles per month as standard
- Fully comprehensive insurance
- Road tax
What's not included in the Drive Fuze monthly subscription?
The following items are not included in the Drive Fuze monthly subscription and would be subject to additional charges:
- Delivery and collection fees
- Fines or penalties that you receive during your subscription
- Damage outside of BVRLA Fair Wear and Tear guidelines
- Insurance excess in the event of an accident
- Fuel or EV charging
What are the upfront costs of a car subscription and how does the monthly payment work?
At point of ordering, we will take an initial payment which will include:
- An upfront monthly subscription - this is your refundable deposit
- The costs to deliver the vehicle
A breakdown of your initial payment will be presented when you order so you always know what your upfront costs are before you order.
On the day of delivery, we will take the monthly vehicle subscription fee in advance and then every month thereafter until the vehicle is returned.
When the vehicle is returned, we will return the refundable deposit to you less any charges for damages as outlined in your subscription agreement.
How do I sign up or order a vehicle?
You can sign up as part of the vehicle ordering process or sign up and be ready for when you find your perfect vehicle. To sign up without an order, simply click the sign-up button on the top right of our homepage and follow the steps.
To sign up as part of the ordering process, you will need your driving licence, a proof of address and a credit or debit card. To ensure you meet our eligibility criteria and to ensure you are getting the right subscription offer, we will use the data provided in your application to verify your eligibility from a variety of sources.
This includes credit reference agencies and other external organisations which will also help protect Drive Fuze from fraud. We will use this information to verify your identity and ensure the vehicle subscription payment is right for you. We will look for things like CCJs (county court judgements for debt), bankruptcies, insolvencies, and credit searches by debt collection agencies. With that information, we’ll be able to make an affordability assessment.
Though not a hard credit check, a record of our search will be left in your history, but it will not affect your credit rating.
Once you have submitted your driving licence and proof of address details, you will select the day of delivery and submit your credit or debit card details. You will be presented with a Subscription Agreement that outlines all of the conditions of subscription and then that completes the ordering process.
We will then check your documents against our eligibility criteria and notify you of the decision. Once approved, we will contact you to let you know your vehicle is on its way.
PLEASE NOTE: We will not take the initial payment until your eligibility checks have been approved. In the instance we are unable to offer you a vehicle subscription, no payments will be taken and we will contact you to notify you of the decision.
How does delivery work?
As part of the ordering process, you will select a date for your vehicle to be delivered. Our delivery driver will call you on the day of your delivery with an approximate time of arrival. Should anything change the anticipated delivery time, we’ll call to update you.
We’ll need the main subscriber to be present for the delivery of the vehicle. We’ll need to see your driving licence to verify your identity.
PLEASE NOTE: If the vehicle cannot be handed over to the main subscriber or in the event that the driving licence is not available or failure to be there when the car arrives will result in an aborted delivery and may be subject to an admin fee.
Will I need to check the car on delivery?
Prior to delivery, our team check every vehicle to ensure its ready for your monthly subscription. On the day of delivery, our driver will check the vehicle again as part of the handover process with you.
We suggest you also check the vehicle to make sure you’re happy with its condition. Should you notice any damage, you can let our driver know or report it to us by calling 0330 118 0947 or emailing subscriptions@drivefuze.com
What if I want to amend my delivery?
If you want to amend your delivery, call us on 0330 118 0947 and we will reschedule. If you want to amend within 48 hours of the original delivery date, you may be liable for the original cost of delivery.
What if I want to cancel my delivery?
At any point before the subscription start date, you can cancel the subscription. The Initial Payment paid in advance will be refunded (refunds can take up to 10 working days to appear in your bank account). We shall retain £100 as a cancellation charge to cover the vehicle administration costs. If you want to cancel, contact us by calling 0330 118 0947 or emailing subscriptions@drivefuze.com
